The Valley Meander

This relatively flat 25 mile Pioneer Valley bike tour starts in the center of Historic Deerfield, a frontier town with a tumultuous and bloody past.  The tour is a mostly flat ride which follows lightly travelled backroads.  You’ll see productive and fertile farm fields run by small family farmers.

What to expect

We then cross over the Deerfield River before traversing farm fields and former lake bed of Lake Hitchcock as we follow the rivers path as we cross over into South Deerfield and back into Historic Deerfield again. This ride includes a stop at the Montague Bookmill and Lady Killgrew cafe for a quick pick me up and time to browse around.  The bookmill is a local historic treasure with the motto “all the books you don’t need in a place you can’t find”.  A nice optional climb up to North Leverett will work your legs just a bit more and allow you to ride some fun gravel roads.
